Since the founding of Indivisible Somerville (IS) in January, we’ve been humbled by the commitment and dedication of all our members. In the past few months, we have grown to over 1200 strong. We’ve started 12 labs, welcomed 21 new community leaders, and built relationships with chapters in Oklahoma, West Virginia, and our neighboring Mystic Valley. At the recent state-wide Indivisible conference, IS was recognized as one of the strongest and most effective chapters in New England. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of this community.
As we continue to solidify our mission and develop our organizational values and culture, we need to invest in strong leadership and organizational capacity. To do this, we need funding. Currently we are spending about $500 per month, which we expect (and hope!) will increase as the organization grows. We have been sustained by generous in-kind contributions as well as small recurring monthly donations. We do not receive funds from Indivisible national (all Indivisible chapters are independent), and we are not associated with any political party or candidate. This means we are entirely funded by and accountable to you.
All donations we receive go immediately towards:
- Rental of meeting space for meetings, speakers, and workshops
- Tools and services to power our website, newsletter, and other technology that helps us be more effective every day
- Printed materials including postcards, signs, banners, and flyers
- Scholarships for members who otherwise couldn’t afford access to programs and materials
We are attaching the slides from the June org meeting with updates on the great work we’ve done. If you like having a powerful community organizing force in your backyard, please consider donating to support IS in its ventures.
We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together this summer. Enjoy the 4th!
