Happy Friday, Indivisibles! We hope that this message finds you well, and that you are ready for the 18-day sprint to the midterms. We need your activism now more than ever! Here are some ways to get involved as we push to November 6:
Join our For the Win! team to canvass and phone bank for swing district ME-2’s Jared Golden.
Every Saturday from now until the election, we’ll meet at Porter Square Books in Cambridge and carpool up to Lewiston, ME to knock on doors with the Golden campaign.
Please RSVP for an upcoming canvass using the following links:
***Please note: carpools leave the Cambridge area at 10am to arrive in Lewiston at 12:30pm. The exception is Nov. 3 — this is a special GOTV canvass which leaves at 8:30am. You will find more info on each canvass in each of the above links.
2) Phone banking
Every Sunday (including this upcoming Sunday, October 21) we will be meeting from 3-6pm at Activist Afternoons (Workbar – Central Square, 45 Prospect St, Cambridge, MA 02139) to phone bank for Jared Golden. Bring a laptop, phone and chargers for both and feel free to invite others along!
If you have never phone banked before, we are happy to train you.
Some of you have braved tight quarters to phone bank with us at Workbar (we cannot thank you enough!!!). Due to strong turnout at our phone banks, the folks at Activist Afternoons have been giving us much nicer (and larger) conference room space at Workbar, so keep the phone bank turnout coming!
Please email Kristin with any questions at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Tuesday 10/23 – Phonebanking for Liuba Grechen Shirley, 6-8pm at the Somerville Public Library, led by Ginger!
Shirley is a Democrat running for Congress in NY-2, opposed by longtime Republican incumbent Peter King. Liuba is endorsed by Indivisible National, Our Revolution, and many others. Originally considered a super long-shot, this race has recently gotten tighter in the polls and could be one of many exciting upsets this November! For more info and to sign up please use this link.
Thursday 10/25 – Phonebanking for Mark Pinsley, 6-8pm at the MassDems HQ (11 Beacon Street, Boston), led by Ben!
Mark Pinsley, a State Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, reached out to Indivisible Somerville for help phone banking in his competitive race. Mark is a progressive Democrat (endorsed by Our Revolution) running in a key swing district. He’s one of 135 state legislative candidates nationwide that Flippable is supporting in their effort to strategically flip legislative chambers in the states with the worst gerrymandering and voter suppression. Please join us to help support Mark! No signup necessary.
Saturday, 10/27 – We get to have some fun!! Singer-songwriter Ron Israel will be performing a concert of social justice and protest songs alongside folk/roots band The Lied To’s. Proceeds will be generously donated to Indivisible Somerville! Join us for a pre-election evening of music and activism! Tickets are $10 at the Eventbrite link or available at the door.
If you find yourself consistently busy during our scheduled events, you can still participate in the blue wave!

As always, a huge THANK YOU to the many of you who are putting in the work to make these events impactful. I am also deeply indebted to our team of election action leaders (I just made that name up) – Ben, Ginger, Emily, Kristin, Ann – who are committed on a weekly basis to these candidates and these causes. You inspire us!!
Every person that we reach through a call, a knock on a door, a text message, is an opportunity to change a vote and to change our country. I know that the quantity of events and the demands from various groups can be overwhelming, and I am grateful that you choose to work with Indivisible Somerville to further these progressive campaigns. We TRULY could not run without the tireless efforts of our fantastic volunteers.
Don’t be a stranger! Even if you’re a new face, you’re a welcome one. We hope to see you at an event soon.
Yours in community,
Co-Chair of the Steering Committee
